About the Wyoming Wing

The mission of AFW is to arrange free non-emergency air transportation in response to medical and other compelling human needs. AFW offers transportation to people whose medical problems make it necessary for them to travel for diagnosis or treatment and who lack the financial resources for transportation. Typical patients include cardiac patients, cancer patients, dialysis patients, and burn victims. Many patients are children. AFW also responds to many other compelling needs for which free air transport is of value.

The members of Angel Flight West are pilots (aircraft owners and renters) and non-pilot supporting members whose common interest is in helping others. AFW pilots donate their flying skills and all the expenses of each flight to enable those with medical or other compelling needs to obtain the care they require. AFW members also do outreach so that hospitals, service clubs, and other organizations know about the services that AFW provides for free. These agencies, in turn, directly inform those in need that transportation to a treatment facility may be available at no charge to them.

Our new Wyoming Wing of AFW is currently a small group of pilots and volunteers, but we can change that with your help! We are looking for you to join our wing, fly missions, and help us to get the word out about AFW services. We also need volunteers to assist with writing, printing, telephoning, mission coordination, public relations, fundraising, and other vital tasks.

Here in Wyoming, we are blessed with wide-open spaces and beautiful scenery. However, this also means that many residents of our state are located hours away from specialized medical facilities. This can mean hours of difficult and unpleasant travel for those who are ill. We at the Wyoming Wing of Angel Flight West hope to cut travel time for these folks dramatically. This is a service that our state needs! As an AFW pilot you can help to fill this need while simultaneously adding a sense of “purpose” to your flying, receiving satisfaction in helping others, and receiving a tax deduction. The number of missions that you fly is entirely your choice.
