Camp Rainbow Gold, 2007 Learn More
Camp Rainbow Gold is an Idaho division American Cancer Society camp for kids age 6-16 with cancer; active or in remission. The camp is located in a beautiful spot about 10 miles north of Sun Valley in the Wood River Valley. The camp lasts for a week and about 75 kids attend along with as many counselors and volunteers.
My wife and I vacation there at the same time the camp is held in early August and we started visiting the camp as some of the campers are flown in by Angel Flight pilots. I met the camp director, Rob Cronin who is an incredible hero to the camp and a cancer survivor himself. The camp provides many activities for the kids like fishing, hiking, floating the Salmon river, ice skating and horseback riding. We play tennis in Sun Valley and we have come to be friends with Mark Frisby the director of tennis. I introduced Mark to Rob and suggested that the kids may enjoy a tennis camp.
The tennis camp has been a great success, we give basic instruction for an hour have lunch and give them Sun Valley T shirts. The picture is a mixture of camp kids, counselors, and pro and amateur instructors. I'm in the center of the back row with the white Angel Flight hat and Mark is the older gentleman at the bottom right. Mount Baldy, the Sun Valley ski mountain is in the background.
